Ebenezer Couch, Sr assisted in establishing American Independence while acting in the capacity of Captain. He was a Captain in Col. Swift's battalion, 8th Company - 1777. He took part in  the Danbury Raid 4/24 - 4/28/1777 as Captain. Took part in  the New Haven Alarm as Captain in 1779. He was present at West Point in 1781.

Ebenezer was the Chairman of the Observation Committee for Fairfield, CT, during the Revolutionary War otherwise known as the Culpepper Spy Network for George Washington.

His sons: Capt Ebenezer Couch, Private Daniel Couch served for CT in New York and fought in the Battle of Saratoga. The family lost everything when the British/Hessians burned Fairfield to the ground in August of 1779.
